Reflection On Meeting 1 (CG1102 Project)

For our CG1102 project, we had to videotape ourselves. We had our first meeting on Thursday 11thFeb, at the central library, discussion room 6. As it was our first time doing this, we were a bit unsure and nervous about how it would go. Our group consisted of Alden, Geck Keat and me. We decided that we would just be natural during the taping.
I felt that the main purpose of us having to videotape ourselves was to look back at it and see where we could actually improve on and what were the points that we had missed out on. During the meeting, we strictly tried to follow our agenda although we went a bit off too.

Teamwork was a very important factor during such meetings. Being a team, all of us had to work together and share our ideas with each other and decide on the best among all the designs that we came up with. Alden was our leader and I felt that he did a good job by making sure that all of us contributed towards the project and put out our ideas without being afraid. He also made sure that all of us engaged in the discussion by asking questions like what do you think of this design, why not this, etc. We were stuck at some parts of the questions and so decided to ask our lab tutor for help.

We were able to manage our time well and actually completed everything that we had on our agenda. I felt that the meeting was really productive and we could come up with a rough idea of how we were going to design our project.

  1. Hello Manjula

It was interesting to read your reflection on your cg1102 group’s first meeting. I find it impressive that your group was responsible and thoughtful enough to book an appropriate venue for the project discussion. The library discussion room seems very apt since as the name suggests it facilitates discussion with a round table and the fact that it is in the library and is a room by itself ensures that your video would not be affected by external disturbances. It is also good that you noticed how your group’s discussion was made effective by your group leader. I believe this would have helped the discussion flow smoothly. However I think you should have also reflected more on your individual role in your team. That would make your reflections more personal. (:

  2. Hi manjula,

The pictures that were attached to the post were captivating and the post was appealing because you included the interesting details that happened during your meeting. In addition, I am amazed that your group is able to keep to the agenda as my group often side-track and we ended up requiring a longer time to complete our meeting. Furthermore, it was astute to consult the lab tutor when problems were encountered during the implementation of the codes. Moreover, the use of a discussion room was appropriate as my group had also used a discussion room since it is a suitable venue to carry out the videotaping of the meeting.

Finally, perhaps you can state your role for the project and write a reflection about that role

  3. Hi Manjula,
I noted the part about your personal feelings about this meeting. I feel that since it is a recorded meeting which most of us are doing for the first time, we would have some degree of nervousness. However, since it was a planned meeting, perhaps what you (as well as all of us) can do is to be adequately prepared for the meeting e.g. knowing what we are going to say in response to a certain point. This will then make use of the extra time that we have from the agenda was sent to the meeting itself. It was good that your team managed to finish the meeting on time and completed everything on the agenda as well.
